The Big Truck Theater.
You just have to see it!
The charm of the 225-seat barn lies in its rusticity—gravel floors, hand hewn benches, rusted tin ceilings, and hay bales set against old wood walls—but it also offers comforts such as bathrooms, a concession stand, a porch swing smoking area, climate control, and state-of-the art sound and light systems.
Over a dozen talented musicians and performers of all ages and genres take
part in the three-hour shows held the first Saturday of every month. The music, skits,
and antics begin at 7 p.m. on the back of a 1960 Ford flatbed truck. After the opening
acts, the truck leaves the theater with the musicians still
playing. That clears the
dance floor for the audience to get up and groove as the red curtains open on the main
stage to the jumped-up music of big bands such as The Hot Dangs.
Regulars say part of the great fun is never knowing what will happen next. At any given show you’ll hear an eclectic mix of anything from rock, roots, country, jazz, bluegrass, R&B, blues, folk, salsa, swing, or even alternative polka and rockabilly with other entertainments thrown in. Bring a date, an armload of friends, family, and neighbors.
Come on down!
Open shows take place the first Saturday of each month from 7-10 p.m. The show never stops, so you’re free to come and go as you like.
